Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1996, she was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Within two years she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell became the the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell is a former panelist, as well as host of the TV show Meet the Press. She served as a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal, the tax reforms to the budget and arms control. She traveled along with Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions to summits and debate topics like the Iran Contra scandal.
